Implant-retained dentures — also called snap-on dentures or implant overdentures — are the permanent fix for a denture that won't stay put. This is the short version of everything you need to know. For the full detail, see our implant overdenture page.
How they work
Instead of resting on your gums, the denture clips onto dental implants anchored in your jawbone. The result is a denture that doesn't shift, float, click, or need adhesive — while still being removable at home for easy cleaning.
The 5-stage process
- 1. Free consultation. We assess your jaw and current denture and give you an honest plan.
- 2. Implant placement. An oral surgeon places 3 (lower) or 4 (upper) implants. Use your own surgeon or one from our trusted GTA network.
- 3. Healing. Implants integrate with your bone over 3–6 months. You wear a temporary denture the whole time — never without teeth.
- 4. Digital impressions. No goop — an intraoral scan captures your jaw and implant positions to the micron.
- 5. Milling & fitting. We mill your overdenture in our own North York lab and fine-tune the snap until it feels like part of you.
What they cost
Our overdenture is a flat $5,250 per arch — no tax, no "and up." The implant surgery is a separate fee set by the oral surgeon (last year's average was about $2,370 per implant). Full details on the cost page.
Already have implants?
We frequently build new overdentures for patients whose implants were placed elsewhere. If they're healthy and well-positioned, your only cost is the overdenture — often ready in 2–4 weeks.
