A cracked or snapped denture always seems to happen at the worst time. Take a breath — most breaks are repairable, often the same day. Here's exactly what to do.
Do this
- Stop wearing the broken piece. A sharp edge or ill-fitting fragment can cut your gums or damage remaining teeth.
- Save every piece. Put all fragments — even tiny chips and any broken teeth — in a zip bag. The more we have, the cleaner the repair.
- Call us. We keep time open for emergency repairs and can often turn a repair around in about an hour in our on-site lab.
Do NOT do this
- Never use super glue or household glue. It's toxic in the mouth, warps the fit, and often ruins a denture that was otherwise easily repairable — turning a $ fix into a new denture.
- Don't file down sharp edges yourself. You'll change the bite and fit.
- Don't keep wearing a cracked denture "just for today." A hairline crack becomes a full break fast.
Why professional repair matters
A denture is a precision medical device. We repair it with dental-grade materials that bond properly and keep your bite aligned — and because we have an in-house lab, we're not shipping it out for a week. If a break keeps happening in the same spot, it may signal a fit problem; we'll check whether a reline or new digital denture is the smarter fix.
